Andrew Patterson

Andrew lives in Maple Valley on a small farm where he and his family enjoy the labors of stewardship and a connection to the land. He has a passion for design and building with a unique perspective gained over his 19 years since graduation from Washington State University. His diverse portfolio of project types and award-winning projects range from kitchen remodels to historic preservation renovations; large luxury homes to new commercial buildings and tenant improvements.

Jeff Ruehlmann

Having grown up in the Puget Sound region, Jeff appreciates all that the northwest climate brings to architecture. His designs focus on daylight, local materials, and the years-long experience of living and working in a space. Jeff has practiced architecture for over 17 years; since graduating from the University of Washington he has worked extensively on single family homes, as well as restaurants & bars. Outside of the office, Jeff has a love of old woodworking tools, gardening, and dogs.

Gabriel Vargas

Gabriel relishes the creative side of architecture. He brings a great deal of cultural and professional diversity to the firm. His experience ranges from contemporary residences to office buildings and institutional projects. His work spans from the greater Seattle area to Miami, and into China and Colombia. He loves giving back to his community through volunteer work, which includes sitting as co-chair of the Sea Level Rise Task Force of the Miami AIA Chapter and serving as a Disaster Service Worker for the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services in California. He is an expert on Building Information Modeling, a LEED Accredited Professional with a specialty in Homes, and is currently an active member of the American Institute of Architects. Outside of the office Gabriel loves to spend time with his son and family at sporting and cultural events.

Sarah Atwood Black

Sarah has always been attracted to fine art, particularly handcrafted ceramics and textiles. She believes that good design is purposeful, life-enhancing, and light-hearted. Sarah is happiest when experiencing the satisfaction of a playful, livable space that tells the stories of its clients in an unexpected, yet grounded, way. Originally from Virginia, Sarah graduated from the College of William & Mary and earned a Master of Arts in Interior Design from Marymount University. She lives with her family in Columbia City and when not chasing after her two young children, can often be found birdwatching at neighborhood parks or spending time in the kitchen with her cookbook collection.

Ladybug can be found napping under a desk or walking all over the latest flooring sample. She specializes in squeaking her toys during phone calls and begging for treats from delivery drivers. Sometimes she barks, but she never means it.
